CASE STUDY:
PATIENT MONITORING SYSTEM
Monitoring devices are either not connected, or large amounts of unprocessed data from devices would need to be stored on a 3rd party cloud. As a result, a lot of data are often scattered between various departments and compiled on separate systems.
The team is proposing a real-time patient health monitoring system which includes analysing healthcare metrics.
Key Challenges
-
Major challenge – To ensure personal data that the IoT sensors/ devices collected is secured and private.
Goals
-
Patient’s data from the smart sensors or monitoring devices are forwarded to AVEVA Edge Computer where healthcare professionals can view it through AVEVA UOC.
-
Algorithms are used to analyze the data in order to recommend treatments or generate alerts (WhatsApp messages).
-
Centralized healthcare dashboards support the efficient management of the hospital.
-
With this system, it will reduce the hospital front line workers’ stress and it will solve the lack of man-power issue in healthcare system.
Solution
Software used:
AVEVA Historian Server | AVEVA Edge Platform
Using AVEVA Historian which is capable of storing huge volumes of data generated from patient’s monitoring devices.

AVEVA Historian can easily retrieve and securely deliver information to desktop or mobile device. Employees can get real-time sensors data of the patients with AVEVA Historian and UOC Dashboard. The dashboard enables visualisation, control and thereby optimises caregiver’s operations.
RESULTS
-
The Patient Monitoring System access information, connect people, materials and institution related to healthcare.
-
Manage and respond to medical ecosystem needs in an intelligent manner.
-
It is a higher stage of information construction in the hospital.
-
Secures all connected devices – IoT, IoMT and operational technologies that are critical to the patient care experience.
-
Offers one platform with comprehensive features that serves security teams, networking teams and clinical technicians.
